THE STORY SO FAR...

2012-2015

Flo and Beth's paths intertwined during their time at University, where they studied Biological Sciences. Like typical students, their "uni days" were a colourful mix of social gatherings and focused studying (sometimes accompanied by the remnants of a hangover!). It was during this period that they were introduced to the incredible potential of seaweed - one of nature's most renewable resources.


2020-2022

Brought together by their nerdy passion for seaweed and desire to do something about the state of our oceans, Flo, a Marine Ecologist, and Beth, a Nutritional Therapist, combined their expertise to try and make a difference. With a common goal in mind, they started running workshops to educate people on the remarkable benefits that seaweed could offer for our well-being, and the health of our marine environments.


2022
Spring
Balancing full-time commitments, Flo and Beth dedicated their evenings and weekends to formulate seaweed bar recipes (created in their very own home kitchens) and shared the bars across their seaweed workshops. They quickly became a beloved favourite among attendees and the overwhelming positive response led to multiple inquiries about the availability of the bars for purchase.

2022
Spring/Summer

The High Tide Seaweed Bar Crowdfunder Campaign was launched rallying for support to propel their bars into commercial production. This marked a pivotal moment in their journey. They had a recipe they loved, but needed support to help get the bars ready for commercial production, streamline distribution channels, and create eco-friendly packaging.

2022-2023
Autumn June
The crowdfunder was a success! With funds now available, High Tide Seaweed was able to advance various essential activities like comprehensive nutritional and shelf-life testing, bar development, streamlining product manufacturing processes, and source eco-friendly packaging solutions.

2023
Autumn - Launch Date
The day arrived when the High Tide Seaweed Snack Bar production transitioned from their humble home kitchen to a small-scale manufacturing kitchen. It was an exciting moment, witnessing the culmination of effort, passion, and dedication over the past year come to reality: the first batch of bars was crafted.

We aim to expand our production capabilities to ensure a greater quantity of our bars is available, enabling us to share the remarkable benefits of seaweed with a wider audience. Our ultimate goal is to inspire and enhance the well-being of an ever-growing community with the wonders of seaweed.
Building a strong community has always been important to us. We cherish the connections formed with our workshop attendees and love to encourage them to experience the taste of our seaweed bars firsthand. We continue to nurture these connections by hosting seaweed bar tastings at our events.
As we forge ahead, we look forward to building a vibrant and engaged community, voicing the benefits of seaweed and actively supporting initiatives that protect our oceans.

Ever Evolving:
We acknowledge that we are not infallible and there is always room for improvement. We're not perfect, but we can promise transparency and our commitment to continuously learning, evolving, and prioritising sustainable and social factors as we expand and progress as a company.
One of our first aims is to donate a percentage of our profits to supporting ocean ecosystem restoration projects in the UK.
